Have you ever wondered yourself how the world will end? There are almost as many beliefs about the end of the world as there are prophets, sects, and religions. Yet still many theories are rather hazy on how it is going to take place or when it will happen. In this article, we’re going to talk about Nostradamus predictions end of world. What is your knowledge about this brilliant man and his prophecies?
Unless you are living under a rock, everyone has heard about Nostradamus. He was the man who, 500 years ago, made about 6,338 predictions. People claim that he predicted everything from Hitler to the 9/11 event, the Death of Diana, along with the assassination of about every important person in history. All of Nostradamus’s prophecies require the followers to interpret his metaphors and cryptic verses, add numerology, and come up with a major event fitting the ‘quatrain’. This prophet’s style is so ambiguous that you can make a prediction fit almost any circumstance.
No one is really sure whether Nostradamus was trying to foresee the future of the world when he wrote the quatrains, published in Les Propheties (The Prophecies) in 1555. But, did Nostradamus predict end of world?
The End of the World According to Nostradamus
The 16th century prophet Michael de Nostradame seemed to know how the end of the world is going to come to pass. He predicted many predictive almanacs and prophecies about future events; however, only what he wrote in a letter to his newborn son – Cesar – gained people’s great curiosity. In the letter, he stated that the world would undergo great floods after which total destruction would take place when a comet storm approaches the Earth. He actually wrote about the end of times – his description is short and businesslike.
Scarily, people can’t find anything about what would happen after the disaster. This may lead us to the conclusion that there won’t be anything afterwards: you may think the disaster is the end and there will be no survivors.
According to Nostradamus’s prophecies, the world will end either in 2012 or 2023; yet, since there was nothing in 2012, the followers start analyzing all the details regarding Nostradamus theories of the world end in 2023. When decoding his indications, Nostradamus seems to imply that the apocalypse will take place 7000 years after he wrote the letter – this would make it the year 8555. Why did he write the letter? He wanted to convince the strict church authorities of his Christian attitude towards life, actually. He always remained under scrutiny, especially when he began making prophecies in his centuries, which were later gathered for a prophecy collection.
His astrological bent had a great deal to do with the content of his writings. Astrological authorities believed that history inevitably repeats itself. He wrote, in one of his pieces, ‘but the certainty of things past and present give us confidence in things to come‘. Instead thinking of his predictions as a prophecy for the end of the world, simply consider it as a statement about how far Nostradamus’s projections would extend.
